Are You a Candidate for Juvederm?

Are You a Candidate for Juvederm?

Aging can be an exhilarating experience as you go through the decades, compiling knowledge, memories, and a perspective that can only be gained when you live a full and productive life. Unfortunately, the flipside is that aging can also leave its mark on our faces. Wrinkles, creases, and sagging skin can make us look and feel a lot older than we really are.

The good news is that you have many treatment options to put more spring into your skin and seemingly erase the evidence of a life well spent. What’s even better is that you don’t have to undergo surgery to do it, so there’s no need to stress over the thought of doing something like a facelift.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, providers perform more than 15.9 million minimally invasive cosmetic procedures annually and an estimated 2.68 million of those use soft tissue fillers. Soft tissue fillers, or dermal fillers as they are more commonly called, help restore firmness and rejuvenate your skin to provide a more youthful experience.

Dr. Anita Petruzzelli  at BodyLogicMD of Hartford, shares insights on one of the most popular dermal fillers, called Juvéderm®. Are you a candidate for Juvéderm®? Let’s find out.

Collagen and elastin are your body’s natural firming and toning agents. As we age, we produce less and less, and while this is happening we pile on years of sun damage. Juvéderm® is an FDA-approved filler that is injected under your skin during a 15-60 minute in-patient visit, depending on your treatment plan. Juvéderm contains hyaluronic acid, which pulls in water molecules to add volume to your skin. A nice plus is that it can also smooth out lines and wrinkles and those annoying creases around your mouth (smile lines and marionette lines) as well as improve facial contours.

You’ll notice immediate results after your session, although you’ll see the full effects after a few days. Juvéderm® lasts between one and two years depending on your treatment area. Many patients schedule periodic touch ups.

In good overall health

Almost anyone is a suitable candidate for Juvéderm®. You should be in good overall health and not be pregnant or nursing, though. People with severe allergies or a skin infection near the desired treatment area may have issues with this treatment. Some medications may interfere with Juvéderm®, so if you are taking antibiotics or medication for a heart condition, please let us know during your initial consultation.

Want to look younger and refreshed without surgery

Generally, people who want to combat the early signs of aging and don’t want to undergo surgery are good candidates. It’s important to be realistic about your goals and outcomes, though.

With this minimally invasive, nonsurgical treatment you don’t have to worry about the risks of surgery and anesthesia or taking time off for recovery.

During the procedure, we keep you comfortable by applying a topical anesthetic. Side effects are minimal — perhaps some mild swelling, redness, or bruising. Most patients return to work or resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Desire to soften wrinkles and add volume

Juvéderm® is a great tool to firm up your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You can reclaim that supple, smooth skin and fuller cheeks, plus minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles. You’ll have your friends wondering what’s so different about you. But if you don’t tell, we won’t either.

If you have been considering whether Juvéderm® is right for you, contact us at BodyLogicMD in Glastonbury, Connecticut, to schedule a consultation. Book your appointment using the online booking tool or call today.
